Super Cooper Heart Run- Houma 2009

With severe weather pounding south Louisiana towards the end of the week leading to the race, the Super Cooper Heart Run was on the verge of being called for weather. However, prayers and positive thoughts brought sunshine to us on race morning. Although it was very chilly and extremely breezy, it was much better than rain and lightening. This year’s event was bigger than ever. The race produced 323 paid registrations (an all-time best), with only a handful of pre-registered participants not showing up for the race. We had 198 5K finishers and 64 1-Mile finishers for a grand total of 262 participants crossing the finish line (not counting the dozen or so infants and toddlers in strollers).

After the race everyone enjoyed some good music played by PeDot, some good food provided Pinocchio’s Pizza, Cristiano’s Italian Restaurant & Castalano’s Catering, and some good drinks proved by Buquet Distributing, TGMC & Cooper Life Fund, while the kids got their face-painted by Cayce Hotard, had Sno-Balls from Summerfield Treats and jumped on the space walk donated by A Kool Kidz Party Rentals.

Special thanks goes out to Mary Beth Clark & John Clark for hosting this wonderful event at their world class facility, The Workout Co. Special recognition also goes to all of our volunteers who help to make the day possible: Jennifer Schwertz, Margaret Jarrett, Derek Jarrett, Ashlyn Thompson, Hannah Benoit, April Reed, Jasmine Simmons, Elaine Charles, Helen Ray, John Sonnier, Laura Poole, Jimmie Poole, Rhonda Alfred, Ann Malbrough, Lisa Positerry, Sharon Foret, Cayce Hotard, Robert Boudreaux, Shea Bourgeois, Errol Bourgeois & Ben Smith.

Thanks also goes out to the Bayou Runners Association (BRASS) members who timed and scored the race for us: Chris Johnson, Darren Kraemer, Shanna Bergeron, Lee Hayes, & Connie Domangue.

And of course, we cannot forget our wonderful corporate sponsors. Without their generosity, we couldn’t provide such a high level of care and support for these families:
