The 6th Annual Super Cooper            Thanks to our Premier Sponsors >>>
Heart Run in Lafayette, LA                (Lafayette Race Series)

DOWNTOWN @ PARC SANS SOUCI!

The 6th Annual Super Cooper Heart Run in Lafayette is this Saturday Nov 6, 2010. As always please fee free to email us at info@cooperlifefund.org to get more info.

As you know, this Lafayette race is in honor of and in memory of all the children who were born with heart defects, amongst other illnesses. Cooper Life Fund organizes this race as a means to help survivors get the most out of life even with whatever restrictions thay may be facing. This is also a way to remember the children who have lost their battle and are now in Heaven, and to comfort their families with our show of support.

We view our son Cooper's heart defect as a blessing in disguise because of the positive impact on others that has come from it. Over the last 5 years the Lafayette Super Cooper Heart Run has raised $33K to help children with heart defects (and their families) enjoy the most out of life right here in Acadiana.

Race Info:

Registration:

To minimize the long lines on race morning, Russell Bex of SMOOTHIE FACTORY has graciously offered to host Shirt & Race Bib pick-up the day before the race. As a PRE-REGISTERED RACER you can stop in to grab your race shirt and race number at SMOOTHIE FACTORY just off Johnston St. at 125 Arnould Blvd. in Lafayette, LA (337-989-7001) "between Brother's and Jason's Deli" during the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov 6. Or just stop in to say hi and grab a smoothie or supplement.

If you cannot make it to SMOOTHIE FACTORY on Friday, PRE-REGISTERED RACERS will still be able to pick up your shirt & race number at the BLUE TENT at Parc Sans Souci on Saturday morning beginning at 7 a.m. RACE DAY REGISTRATION will also begin at 7 a.m. under the Red Tent.

Race Details:

The 1-Mile Fun Run begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. The address to Parc Sans Souci is 201 E. Vermilion St., Lafayette, LA.

Parking:

Parking is available at the Parking Garage next to Parc Sans Souci. You may access the parking garage from E. Vermilion St. and can park on any level free of charge.

Weather:

The current forecast is calling for a beautiful morning with the morning low of 40 degrees and a daytime high of 63 degrees. The actual race time temperature should be around 50 degrees with the sun shining.

Downtown Alive! (DTA)

As an added bonus, DTA will feature Lil' Band O' Gold on the Friday night before The Super Cooper Heart Run at Parc Sans Souci (same location of race). Concessions begin at 5:30pm and music will play from 6:00pm - 8:30pm. Concession sales help keep DTA free, so please leave your ice chests at home.

Lil' Band O' Gold features some of the most influential musicians to ever have emerged from Acadiana, including our good friend Steve Riley. The outfit was assembled by vocalist and guitarist CC Adcock, who searched the swamps and flatlands of South Louisiana to form a band of his childhood heroes. Each member of Lil' Band O' Gold is a master of a separate style, both diverse and exciting and collectively they comprise a mix of unsurpassed talents.

We'll see you on Saturday morning!

>> When/Where
The Super Cooper Heart Run is set for Saturday, Nov 6, 2010 at Parc Sans Souci (201 E. Vermillion St.) in Lafayette, LA. The Kids Fun Run begins at 8:00 a.m. with the 5K race following immediately thereafter. The registration fee through October 23rd is $20 for the 5K and $12 for the Fun Run. After October 23rd the cost is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the Fun Run . This is a run or walk race - so don't feel pressured to run the entire route, but give it your best effort. Mark this date as a milestone to begin the rest of your healthy life.

>> Who We Are
The Cooper Life Fund is a nonprofit organization created with an objective to develop methods of raising money for charitable organizations that focus on an awareness of heart defects, along with other serious medical conditions. My wife Ashley and I founded the organization after our son Cooper Fontenot was born with a Congenital Heart Defect in 2004. Cooper spent many weeks in the hospital and when he was only 9-days old endured several hours of open-heart surgery. At a month old, Cooper finally made it home. Cooper is alive and well today because of great medical care and because of intensive cardiovascular research. While hospitalized, the nurses came up with the nickname ‘Super Cooper' because of his resilience. We did not want to take our good fortune for granted and vowed to help as many others as possible. Please visit us at
www.cooperlifefund.org.

>> Who Benefits
All proceeds raised from The Super Cooper Heart Run will help sponsor kids for a special summer camp called Camp Bon Coeur (Camp Good Heart). Camp Bon Coeur is a local non-profit cardiac camp designed especially for kids born with heart defects. Learn more about Camp Bon Coeur by visiting their website at
www.heartcamp.com. Read thank you letters from actual campers who attend Camp Bon Coeur's Summer Camp by clicking here.

>>5 K Race Route
The race route starts and stops at Parc Sans Souci on the corner of Vermillion St. & Polk St. The route takes us out of the downtown area and weaves through the Saint Street area before returning downtown. The Kids Fun Run route follows Vermillion St. for nearly ½ mile and then backtracks along the same route returning to Parc Sans Souci.

>>Last Years Results

>> Making a Contribution
For those of you wishing to make a personal monetary contribution or wishing to become a corporate sponsor, please open the
contribution request form. Any level of contribution would be greatly appreciated. Donations are 100% tax deductible as we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. After the race you will receive an official donation receipt from the Cooper Life Fund with your contribution amount which is used for your tax filing purposes. The closing date to confirm corporate sponsorship to ensure a company logo spot for race t-shirts is October, 23rd.

>> What Can I Do To Help?
For those of you unable to participate in the race, but would like to contribute in some other way, please consider becoming an advocate for our race and for our cause. To do this you can help us by recruiting race participants or by seeking out potential sponsorships. Any little bit of help you are willing to provide will assist us in helping children who are born with heart defects. You can also help by sending this page (at top) to as many people as possible.

>> Volunteering
Another way to get involved is to volunteer for our race. If you are interested, please contact us at 985-580-2555 or by email at
info@cooperifefund.org. Volunteering is fun and easy and allows you to enjoy the post race festivities along with the race participants. With this year's new route we will need at least 15 volunteers for the race route, and an additional 7 volunteers for the race site. So please let us know if you are interested. We could really use your help.

We at the Cooper Life Fund would like to once again thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for your help to enrich the lives of so many needy children. Please feel free to call us at 985-580-2555 or by email at info@cooperlifefund.org if you have any questions regarding the event.
